Course registration details

Thecourse registration process will begin after the March break.

Itis very important that students understand that the courses they select willdirectly determine which classes are offered and how many sections of eachclass will be offered. Accordingly, course requests must be completed in aninformed and serious manner.

Onceall the course requests are tallied and the classes determined, a masterschedule will be created. Students will then be registered based on the master scheduleas determined by their requests. All requests may not be met so students shouldhave an 11th course selected in their mind in case an adjustment isrequired.

Thefollowing are the dates and activities:

-         March 10  - March 21: Guidance Counselorsvisit all English Language Arts classes from grades 9-11.

-         Grade 12 students who need coursesare to listen to the announcements for direction

-         Thursday, March 13, 6:30 in thecafeteria, Advanced Placement program information meeting

-         Thursday, March 13, 7:30 in thecafeteria, information meeting for Parents/Guardians of Grade 9 students

-         Tuesday, March 25, courseregistration forms to students

-         Thursday, March 27, completed courseregistration forms to homeroom teacher

-         Tuesday, May 20, begin studentselection of courses for their 2008-2009 schedule

There will not be an informationsession for Parents/Guardians of students currently in grades 10 and 11 becauseof the wide variety of courses needed to meet entrance requirements of variouspost secondary institutions.

false fire alarm

Wehad someone pull a fire alarm this morning resulting in the evacuation of thebuilding. The Fire Department responded promptly. Students were permitted toreturn to the areas of their exit but were required to remain by that exituntil the final approval by the Fire Department members who were here.

Ihave made an announcement requesting that any information about who may havepulled the alarm be given to a teacher, the office or call Crime Stoppers.

Obviously, having students out in the snow with emergency vehicles on the road is a hazardto everyone. Hopefully, we will receive the information and determine whopulled the alarm.

Gr. 8 math assessment

Grade 8 Math assessment results for students have been given to Grade 9homeroom teachers. Please ask if your student has received the information andbrought them home. Any grade 9 student who did not receive their results shouldinform their home room teacher. These results are not a graduation requirementlike the English Language assessments. One of the difficulties is that the studentswrote the assessment while in Grade 8, then transferred to a high school.
