Dear Kathy, Congratulations! KJ knows to write as well as JK. Good subject. Good story structure. Nailbiting end. Everything told very well. A page-turner. When I came home after the presentation I looked at the first pages of your book and decided Harry Potter could wait. And I started reading your book. It took me a week to finish for reading English takes much more time than reading Dutch. But it was worth it. Just one thing... Sarah will not receive my sympathy. She is a fool sneaking out every time. She was asking for it! Kind regards, Alex Duurvoort
  • Dear Alex,

Thank you for the feedback. Wow! Even I wouldn't put my writing in the same league as JK! And since I know that you have been waiting a very long time for the last HP-book to be translated to Dutch, it is truly an honor to know that HP was bumped for a week. Wow! (As for your lack of sympathy for Sarah...she's a teenager, Alex! And trust me, these creatures most often think with their hearts and not their heads!) Groetjes, Kathy

As you know, even though I drove hundreds of kilometers to get a signed copy of your book, it was kidnapped by Jan the very same evening I brought it home. He has not finished it yet, so I just have to be patient, but I'll make sure to review it once I read it out! In the meantime, have a great trip to SA and prettige feestdagen! Sophie

And... has Jan given any clues yet, or is he keeping you completely in the dark about the novel? Happy to hear that Jan and The Butterfly Clinic made it back safely from Japan. I look forward to reading your reactions when we return from Africa. I'm packed and ready to go! Jullie ook prettige feestdagen, hoor! Kathy

I'm at chapter 12 now. It really reads like a whooosh. I'll rate it at 5 stars thanks to its interesting characters, making you want to leap into the story to find out what the hell is the matter in there.

I've read some of your reviews and an exerpt from your book. I do intend on purchasing a copy soon, though I'm hoping for a copy at Christmas from a family member. Hey, I 'm Scottish decent, and of course quite frugal. Ok I'm cheap. Best wishes with this book and others to come.

What a nice surprise to see you in my blog-world! So, have you dropped hints to the sibling who was lucky to have pulled your name in the Polly-Anna Christmas gift exchange for this year? Or were you dropping a hint for your favorite ex-wife to send you an autographed copy of The Butterfly Clinic? If it's a hint for me, expect a Valentine's Day present, as the post is going by Pony Express these days!!! Looking forward to hearing your novel ideas! Enjoy Christmas with your beautiful grandson, and Best of Everything in 2008! Love, Kathy (P.S. Give my love to the whole Anderson Clan, too!)

Thanks for the encouraging words. I hope you enjoyed your holidays...I have been told that you had snow and ice here on Christmas Day. I must say that although I love snow, I did seriously enjoy the warm African sunshine this holiday. Well, back to reality! See you at school and will hear your book critique then. Groetjes, Kathy

Hey Kathy, Well my Santa didn't bring me the gift I asked for. So, I purchased and read your book. I have corresponded with you privately, but now publically I will say it was a good first effort. Good story, interesting characters, some more than others. Overall quite goood! I've passed the book on to Dawn and told her to pass it on. Congratulations and Best Wishes for your success as a author. I'm proud of you! Love You, Kenny
