Autobiography...
My name is Kathy Jo, not Kathleen nor Katherine, but simply Kathy Jo. I was born in the United States of America, Colorado to be specific. To be more specific, Niwot, Colorado. (population 82 at year of my birth)
At the age of twelve my family moved from our little farm town, to Phoenix, Arizona. With a population of over one million inhabitants in the early 70's, it was quite a culture shock for a child, to say the least.
As a child when asked, 'What do you want to be when you grow up?' I rarely gave the same answer twice. I would be a teacher, singer, writer, actress, waitress, etc... Now, when asked to give a biography statement, I smile and answer appropriate for my current audience.
When I was in my late teens and early twenties I worked at many odd jobs to afford my lifestyle and education expenses, and I confess that one of these jobs was a singing waitress.
Having completed courses at college in child development programs, my first actual career was teaching Pre-school and Kindergarten; a career that span more than a decade.
After a few years detour working as an accountant, In 1993, I graduated from Southwest Institute of Myotherapy, Scottsdale, AZ. Specialized in neuromuscular rehabilitation and stress reduction therapies, I still love being a therapist and helping people.
In 1999, I sold my therapy center in Arizona and moved to The Netherlands to join my partner in his country of birth. I now have a small private therapy practice and teach high school ELL in Ridderkerk & Rotterdam.
In 2005, I graduated from the novel writing course offered by, London School of Journalism, and have recently completed my first novel.
I've incorporated my medical experience as a therapist in creating, the background of The Butterfly Clinic. This 95,000-word novel featuring massage therapist Cassandra Frost is set at Baxter Chiropractic Clinic in downtown Phoenix, Arizona.
I would be delighted if you would order it now from your local Barnes & Noble Booksellers, or from one of the following online bookstores: barnesandnoble.com, amazon.com, bol.com, iUniverse.com. Thank you in advance for purchasing, The Butterfly Clinic. (A contribution of 10% of your purchase will be given to the Blue Butterfly Campaign, an agency that assists women and runaways in need.)
